Nathan Bennett
Meet our bassist, Nathan, the stalwart foundation of Monumental.
Nathan was practically weaned on the sounds of rock 'n' roll. In his informative years, his dad, a die-hard music enthusiast, would often take him to see ska, funk and blues bands exposing him to a wide range of genres and styles. As a result, Nathan developed a keen ear for music and a sense of rhythm that would serve him well in his future endeavours.
Taking inspiration from his musical heroes s as The Libertines, The Specials and Dr. Feelgood, Nathan’s persona on stage really is magnetic. He locks eyes with the audience, throws them a dazzling smile, interacts with them and draws them in. Head thrown back, he moves to every note he plays. And when he steps up to the mic, it’s not about stealing the show, it’s about making it whole.
He's the band’s peacemaker and often the voice of reason. When tempers flare he’s the one stepping in with a calm word or an ‘arse mint’ (a loose mint from his back pocket) to diffuse the situation. He’s always there when someone is spiralling, always the one to say ‘You’ve got this and I’m here for you.’
Loyal to the core, Nathan is an integral part of Monumental bringing his charismatic enthusiasm to every gig. There’s always an approachable vibe to him, he doesn’t try to impress, so you can’t help but like him. He’s the steady heartbeat of the band.
